Katherine Irene Tillman McMillan, 89, passed away peacefully at home on July 6th, 2021. She was born January 1st, 1932 in Pascagoula, MS. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked at the Live Oak Head Start in Vancleave for nearly 20 years. She was a lifelong member of the RLDS Church in Vancleave, MS where she worked with the youth and was music director. Mrs. McMillan was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Cecil McMillan, her parents, John Dudley and Jessie Olivia Tillman; three brothers and one sister, Johnny Stover Tillman, Myron Eldridge Tillman, John Dudley Tillman and Doris Elene Davis. She is survived by two children Richard (Sue) McMillan and David (Donna) McMillan; two sisters Mary Ellen (Tony) Bonner and Diny (Wayne) Davis; two grandchildren Ryan (Christy) McMillan and Kelli (Brian) Blalock; two great grandchildren Veronica McMillan and Eli Richburg. She is also survived by a host of relatives, friends, and young people. Whether you knew her as Mrs. McMillan, Kat, Granny Kat, Kitten, or Tatie she was your friend for life. Always there to share a cup of coffee, a laugh or a good cry. She had a deep compassion and love for children and those that were struggling. Katherine had overcome many hard trials and never gave up which earned her the title of long suffering. She searched for the good in people and would not give up on them. She was the teacher of teachers, able to teach you lessons without you knowing you were being taught. Challenging you to dig deep for truth, to know what you believe and be able to defend those beliefs and ideas. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Vancleave RLDS church, 12205 Mt Pleasant Road, Vancleave with visitation one hour prior to service. Elders Joan Lutes and Jim Goff will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations may be made to the Vancleave RLDS church youth group or Samaritan's Purse in her memory.
