Betty Katherine "Kathy" Wallace Deihl, 61, died Dec. 26, 2010, at her home in LaPlace, La. She was born June 18, 1949, in Berea, Ky., but moved with her family to Jackson County in 1960. A 1967 graduate of East Central High School, she traveled the country and the world with her family for many years before re-settling in Jackson County in 1988. She met her loving and dedicated husband, Woodrow "Woody" Deihl Jr. in 1995, and the couple was married the following year. They moved to the New Orleans area in 1997 and made their home there until her death. She was a bookkeeper at Tonti Realty in Metairie, La., for many years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Lee Wallace of Big Point; her daughter, Katherine Michelle Stephenson; and her sister-in-law, Irene Wallace of Ocean Springs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Jeffry (Cheryl) Stephenson of Big Point; Creg Stephenson of Pascagoula and Joey (Lauren) Stephenson of Hurley; her mother, Avis C. Wallace of Big Point; three brothers, Eugene Wallace of Ocean Springs, James "Tuffy" Wallace of Big Point, and Billy Wayne (Deborah) Wallace of Grand Bay, Ala.; two sisters, Janet (Clayton) Ely of Big Point and Faye Bell (Preston Eiland) of Helena; two step-sons, Richard (Vickie) Deihl of Big Point and Brandon (Mandi) Deihl of Springfield, La.; and step-daughter Tracy Deihl of Big Point; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas Wiles, Katie Guessford, Chelsea Wiles, Collin Stephenson, Emily Wiles, Dustin Stephenson, Lexy Deihl, Will Johnstone, Kyle Guessford, Zachary Deihl, Hailey Deihl, Perry Deihl, Gabbie Stephenson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., in particular Drs. Jayne Gurtler, Thomas Nuttli, Luis Soto and Harry Roach.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 30th, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 31st , 2010 from Holder-Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa
