Kay McGowen Diaz passed away on November 26, 2023 at the age of seventy six. She was
a beloved resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Kay was born on September 1,1947 in Pascagoula to Clarence Winslow McGowen and
Annie Bosarge McGowen of Kreole, MS. As a cheerleader and Moss Point's Junior Miss and
Jackson County Livestock Queen in 1965, she captured the hearts of all those who knew
her. Her radiant spirit and grace extended beyond beauty pageants.
Kay was a member of several Mardi Gras associations and reigned as Queen of Hera XXI.
She was a cherished member of the community and left an indelible mark as a woman of
unwavering dignity.
Devoted to her faith, Kay found solace in her Catholic beliefs, guiding her actions and
providing comfort throughout her life. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her character,
influencing her kindness and generosity. Kay is survived by two sons, Shannon
Peattie (Amy) and Shane Peattie (Bethany), and her four granddaughters.
Funeral services will be provided by Holder-Wells Funeral Home of Moss Point and will be
held at the Finnish Church Cemetery at 3900 Finland Ave., Moss Point, MS on Friday
December 8 at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow from 3- 5 pm at Camellia Pointe Clubhouse
