Rev. Kenna Byrd Sr., age 80, passed away August 1, 2009 in Mobile, Al. He was born on March 26, 1929 in Biloxi, MS. Rev. Byrd was a United States Army veteran and a retired minister. He was preceded in death by his parents; Cleo and Ruby Byrd, his son, Kenna Byrd Jr., his daughter, Pamela Byrd Faggard, and his sister, Jerry Myres. He is survived by his wife of 61 yrs., Jewel Byrd, his daughter, Rebecca Ann (Danny) Kilgore of Pascagoula, his son, Gregory (Diane) Byrd of Hurley, 6 grandchildren; Shane, Helms, Allison, Leslie, Danny Lee, Amanda, and Lyndi, 10 great grandchildren, and his sisters; Helen Walters and Janet (Douglas) Patrick, along with numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Monday August 3rd at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Tuesday August 4th at Parkway Baptist Church in Pascagoula with soloist Gordon Bennett. Rev. Ernie Sadler and Rev. Jim Stanhope will be officiating. Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery, Moss Point. Funeral arrangements with Holder-Wells Funeral Home.
