Larry Wayne Moran, age 62 of Gautier, MS., died June 3, 2008 after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 21, 1945 in Gulfport, MS. He grew up in Perkinston, graduated from USM with a BS degree and graduated from USA with a MBA. He lived most of his life in Gautier. Larry Moran was the epitome of the quiet volunteer who loved his city. He served two terms on the Gautier Civil Service Commission and subsequently assumed Chairmanship of the Planning Commission which he held until his death. As an indication of how deeply he cared, Larry participated and voted in the May meeting through a remote connection from city hall to his bedside. He worked at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding as a Human Resourse Generalist. He also had a broker/real estate license. He enjoyed reading, boating, photography, blues music, Nascar, and particularly the 24-hour race in Daytona. He was preceded in death by his father; Travis (Bud) Moran. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years; Janie Moran of Gautier, his mother; Charla (Marie) Moran of Perkinston, his son; Quint (Belinda) Moran of Vancleave, his daughter; Nicole A. Moran of Gulfport, his daughter; Lucy (Gordon) Hartje of Pascagoula, his son; Adam D. Moran of Ocean Springs and three grandchildren; Amanda, Roman, and Marleigh Moran. Visitation will be Thursday, June 5 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be Friday, June 6 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Perkinston, MS. at 10:00am. Family prefers donations be made to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 1515 Inda Rd. Perkinston, Ms., 39573 in lieu of flowers.
