Obituary

Louis Russell Harbison, age 68, of Bayou La Batre, Alabama, peacefully departed from this world on January 7, 2025, in Mobile, Alabama. Born on October 15, 1956, to Louis and Angela Harbison in Mobile, Russell was affectionately known to friends and family as "Shultz." His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter left an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Russell was preceded in death by his beloved father, Mr. Louis Leon Harbison, his cherished grandmother, Sara Elizabeth Waterall Hall, and his faithful dog, Snooki. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Eileen Richelle Harbison; his daughter, Sara Eileen Butler (Stephen); his loving mother, Angela Clarrie Harbison; his sister, Kelly Martina Harbison Grable; his nephew, Brandon Scott Grable (Kaylyn); his great-nephew, Luka Scott Grable; his uncle, Hudson Harbison (Emily); and a host of close friends and family members who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A man of many passions, Russell dedicated his life to commercial fishing, often humorously claiming he had been doing it since before "Moby Dick was a minnow." His unique sense of humor, paired with a love for dancing, particularly disco, brought joy not only to himself but to all who surrounded him. Russell even participated in disco competitions and made a memorable appearance on an episode of "American Bandstand." Furthermore, he was a proud associate member of the American Legion Riders Post 88, where he found camaraderie and friendship.
