The sun rose on October 29, 1951, welcoming Mabel Earline Smith into the world, a day the world would become a little brighter. On November 12, 2024, Mabel Smith took her final breath, knowing how loved and admired she was by so many people. Mabel lived a full and warm life, filled with laughter, the love of George Strait, concerts, her son Scott, and everyone who was around her. Mabel will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Mabel loved country music, especially George Strait. Mabel loved to dance and do crossword puzzles, eat seafood, and laugh. She was a staple of love and support to all the individuals at Brandis Hope in Pascagoula. Anyone who encountered her was treated to one of Mabel's special hugs.
Mabel's faith was a guiding light in her life, and as 2 Corinthians 5:8 reminds us, "We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord." While we grieve her absence, we find comfort knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord, her radiant smile shining down on us until we meet again.
Mabel is survived by her son, Scott Rogers of Mobile, Alabama, and her cousin, Leila Etheridge of Mississippi.
A celebration of Mabel's vibrant life will be held at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, located at 4007 Main Street, Moss Point, Mississippi, on Monday, November 25, 2024. Friends and family are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to honor her memory.
In lieu of mourning, we invite all who knew Mabel to remember her with joy, reflecting the happiness and love she so freely gave.
