Obituary

Malcolm Aubrey Myers, 85 passed from this life on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home in Pascagoula. He was born September 22, 1927 in Moss Point to Ernest and Ruth Gibson Myers, the seventh of eight children. "Mac" graduated from Moss Point High School in 1946 where he played football, baseball, basketball and ran track. He joined the United States Marine Corps after graduation and served until 1948. "Mac" married Rita Joyce Krebs on November 28, 1948. He then attended the University of Mississippi on a track scholarship in 1949-1950 and was an "M" club member. "Mac" was then called back to active duty in 1950 with the Marines during the Korean War. He was a high school football referee for over twenty years and was a coach and District 1 Director for Dixie Youth Baseball. Mr. Myers was retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 43 years in Engineering. He was a charter member of the Ingalls Management Association (IMA) also serving as President and Board Member. He was a member of Pascagoula Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with other seniors. He was a member of BPOE Lodge #1120 of Pascagoula and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula where he served as an usher for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rita Joyce Krebs; siblings, Carl Myers, Ray Myers, John D. Myers, Jimmie Myers, Elizabeth Barr and Meda Switzer. He is survived by his second wife, Jessie W. Beall Myers of Pascagoula; sister, Anna Pearl Geer of Gulfport; sons, Roy M. and Martina Myers of Pascagoula, Malcolm B. "Brad" Myers of Clearwater, Florida, Richard Alan and Tina Myers of Lumberton; grandchildren, Travis Myers, Allison Myers, Peyton Myers and Luke Myers. He will be sadly missed by extended family, R.L. and Zhen Thompson, Michael and Miki Thompson, Jan T. Clark, Jennifer C. and Jerad Ladnier, Caroline Clark and David Clark. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11:00am from First Baptist Church of Pascagoula with Rev. Dennis Ray Smith and Dr. Jay Cook officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to service time. Entombment will follow at Krebs Cemetery in Pascagoula. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Myers, Peyton Myers, Luke Myers, Richard Lucas and Wayne Ditsworth. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Myers' Sunday School class members at First Baptist Church and granddaughter Allison Joyce Myers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of Pascagoula, Hospice of Light or any charity of choice.
