It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Marcella Lynn Ward (Callis), who left us peacefully on June 19, 2026, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, at the age of 63. Born on July 29, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, Marcella’s journey was defined by her unwavering devotion to her family.

Marcella’s warmth, strength, and steadfast support touched all who knew her. Her kindness offered comfort and stability to friends and family, while her gentle spirit served as a guiding light within her community.

She is survived by her loving children, Ronnie Hughes Jr. (Cassie) and Christina (Chris) Easler; her cherished grandchildren Ryan Hazelwood, Hunter Glaskox, Kaleighe Glaskox, Trinity Glaskox, Justin Hughes, Noah Hughes, Jace Hughes, Samuel Hughes, and Elliana Hughes; her devoted sister Cathy (Mike) Cornish and brother Rodney Callis Jr., who will carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. Marcella’s life was enriched by treasured memories of those who preceded her in death: her devoted spouse, Edward Ward; her beloved child, Sarah Beth Hughes; and her loving parents, Sandy Willis, Rodney Willis, and Rodney Callis Sr. The memory of their lives remains a source of strength and reflection for all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Marcella’s deep love for her family and her steadfast dedication to those she cared for were the hallmarks of her character. She found joy in the outdoors, whether at the beach or camping, and held a special fondness for animals, especially cats and dogs. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, watching them grow and thrive. Her gentle wisdom and unwavering encouragement will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We invite all who knew and loved Marcella to join us in honoring her memory with a funeral service at the Chapel of Holder-Wells Coastal Funeral Home, 12800 Highway 613, Moss Point, Mississippi 39562, on Friday, June 26, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place in Serene Memorial Gardens immediately after the service.
