Obituary

Marion Wilson Mullican was born on October 30, 1924, in Girard, Richland Parish, Louisiana, the second son of William D. and Nannie E. (Greer) Mullican, and passed away on September 2, 2022, at the age of 97.
Mr. Mullican was lovingly called "Marion" by many and "Wilson" by others. He answered to both names.
He served honorably in the United States Army, March 1943 to January 1946, during World War II, and was assigned to the Heavy Artillery as a machine gunner to protect the big guns. Wilson traveled to France, Germany, Scotland, Wales, and England and landed in Normandy on 7-24-1943. He was awarded the following commemorative medals: The American Campaign, Victory World War II, European -African-Middle Eastern Campaign, Good Conduct, Army Regular Size, and the "flying duck" lapel button.
After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1946, he returned home and had to leave school to help his family survive. In the 1950s, Wilson relocated to Pascagoula, MS., and married Willie Mae Haws on August 13, 1962. He immediately found work at the Pascagoula Icehouse where he made many good friends. His last job was at The Blossman Gas Company as an excellent driver/salesman of a propane truck. He knew all the customers on his route very well. He was a very caring and responsible man. He could tell you all the roads that were east and west and north and south. After a very successful career of 20 years with the gas company, he retired at the age of 62 in 1986 to take care of his infirm wife.
Wilson was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Willie Mae (Haws) Mullican; his parents, two brothers; Lester and Kenneth, and three sisters, Cecil, Nell, and Gladys; three half-brothers, J.B., Roy, and Earl.
He is survived by his remaining sibling, his brother, Joseph E. Mullican, of D'Iberville, MS, and a multitude of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wilson loved to work on his puzzles. His walls are full of his beautifully framed puzzles which he spent many hours putting together. He also was quite a handyman who could take on just about any job and do it well himself. Anyone who knew Wilson knew he loved football, especially the New Orleans Saints.
He happily and selflessly volunteered at the Pascagoula Singing River Hospital Auxiliary for about 10 years and won several awards for his efforts.
