Mary Ethel Davis (Dunn) passed away quietly on Tuesday, March 14 at her home in Moss Point, MS at the age of 80.
Mary was born on December 7, 1942, in Red Creek, Stone County, MS to Jeptha and Nora Dunn (née Thomas). Mary spent her early years with her family in Pascagoula, MS. She loved her family, remaining close and steadfastly loyal to them throughout her life.
Mary was married for 48 years to Don Davis, a US Navy sailor from Lowell, MA. After his death, Mary built a new home and church family with her beloved partner Roger Dean of Moss Point, MS. Mary and Roger were active members of the First Apostolic Church of Escatawpa. Mary was also passionate about gardening, fishing, and thrift store shopping with her sisters.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jeptha and Nora; a sister, Martha Lou Boutwell; three brothers, Herbert, Roy, and Tommy Dunn; and her partner Mr. Dean. She is survived by her brother Wyatt Dunn, and sisters Josephine Hunter and Margaret Moore; her daughter Valerie Davis of Long Beach, CA, and sons Don Davis of Somerville, MA and Andrew Davis of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Isis, Thaïs, and Tycho Traumann-Davis, and Rachel Featherstone and Joshua Davis; great-grandchildren Connor Jennings, Elijah Tyler, Seraphina and Xenobius Brooks, and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a source of strength and good sense for everyone she knew. She faced her death as she did her life, with grace, faith, and relentless determination. She lives forever in our hearts.
A visitation will be held at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS on Friday, March 17 from 6-7 pm. Her funeral service will be held at the First Apostolic Church of Escatawpa on Saturday, March 18 at 11 am. Mary will be laid to rest at Serene Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Moss Point, MS.
