Mary Sue Marshall, a dedicated educator and cherished member of the Moss Point community, peacefully passed away at her home on June 15, 2026. Born on July 4, 1941, Mary Sue's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to education and her deep devotion to family.
A proud graduate of Moss Point High School, Mary Sue furthered her education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Perkinston before completing her studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her academic journey laid the foundation for a remarkable teaching career that spanned more than 25 years at East Central Elementary School. Throughout her tenure, Mary Sue inspired countless young minds and was known for her compassionate approach and steadfast dedication to her students' growth and success.
Mary Sue's life was enriched by the love and support of her family. She is survived by her sons, Mark, Greg, Chris, and Dru Marshall, along with their devoted spouses Peggi, Linda, Shon, and Jessi Marshall. Her beloved sister, Yvonne Clay, and brother-in-law, Neil Clay, also remain by her side. Mary Sue’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Glen Marshall; her parents, W.H. Hillman and Geneva Hillman; and her sister, Carolyn Lynn, along with brother-in-law Bert Lynn.
Mary Sue Marshall's life was a testament to the power of education and the strength of family. Her gentle spirit, her dedication to nurturing the potential of young learners, and her unwavering kindness will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, teaching, and community that will endure for generations.
