Obituary

Mary "Marguerite" Odom, age 90 was born on 10/28/1930 in Forrest County, Hattiesburg, MS and died peacefully in her sleep on 7/01/2021 in Hammond, LA.
She lived most of her adult life in Ocean Springs, MS. and recently moved to Hammond, LA.
Born to Doris Marguerite Pittman Odom (DOB 5/18/1912) and Roland Benjamin Odom (DOB 9/27/1908). Marguerite was the oldest sister to Peggy Joyce Odom, Carolyn Marie Dickerson, Virginia "Joann" Towles, Brenda Joyce Odom and brother Tommy Lee "Sonny" Odom. Parents and siblings are pre-deceased in addition to grandson Drew Mitchell, great grandson Dillon Lauricella, daughter-in-law Geri Ciesiensky and her dear friend Delpha Steelman.
Marguerite is survived by her loving and devoted children: John B. Ciesiensky (Christine), Tenn., Linda G. Harris (Tim) Tenn., Susan T. Shrader (John) Texas, J. Michael Ciesiensky (Carol Ann) Louisiana, Matthew E. Ciesiensky MS, Patricia A. Owen (Charlie) MS, and her namesake Alice Marguerite Mitchell (Tommy) Tenn. We are all going to miss our mother but we are assured by God's promise that we will all meet again in heaven. We are very happy we were able to celebrate with our mother on her "90th" birthday this past October. She will be celebrating her next birthday in heaven and oh what a day that will be! Mother we all love you to the moon and back.
She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren who call her Nana. She is also survived by her dear lifelong friends, Myrtle McNeil and Carol Michel. She loved attending church and when she was unable to attend, she watched services on on TV. She loved crocheting, quilting, and sewing, creating many special items for her children and grandchildren through the years. She always had a project going.
We would like to extend a special thanks to our mother's caregivers at Oak Park Village and to the hospice nurses in Hammond, LA. You went above and beyond to love and care for our mother and her family. All of you have been very caring, compassionate, and supportive - which we very much appreciate. You welcomed each one of her children and grandchildren over the past few weeks and supported us during this time. A special thanks to Elaine Hayden, who was like a sister to Marguerite.
There will be a private family visitation and service held at Holder Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, MS, followed by a private burial with her fur baby LaRoux.
In lieu of flowers donations to SBN Ministries are appreciated. Post Office Box 262550 Baton Rouge, LA 70826.
