Melvin Hurlen Wells, Sr. April 23,1938 12-15-2018. Hurlen was born in Kreole , MS and lived the majority of his 80 years in Moss Point, MS
He served with pride and dedication in the United States Navy FROM August 1960 through October 1968, with assignments in Jacksonville, FL; San Diego, CA and aboard the USS Constellation aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War, returning to Moss Point after an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy. Hurlen retired from International Paper Company, Moss Point, in 1995.
Hurlen is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joanna (Krebs) Wells and his three sons and their wives, Len and Kim, David and Denise and Mark and Thea and their families. Surviving grandchildren are Chasidy (Wells) Hembree , Candace Wells ,Wade Wells, Dawson Wells, Justin Wells, AnnMarie (Wells) Ferrer and Anna Wells. Step grandchildren are Taylor Pope and Kailen (Pope) Box. Great grandchildren are Jaidyn Sanders, Peyton Hembree and Kinsley Wells.
Surviving brothers and sisters are: Lynette Crowley, Virginia Seaman, Clyde Wells, Alvina Bellanca, John Wells, Betty Garner, and Jimmy Dell Wells.
Hurlen was preceded in death by his father and mother Orie H. Wells and Nettie (Morie) Wells and sister Venita Davis.
Visitation will be Wednesday December 19,2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Holder-Wells Funeral Home at 4007 Main Street Moss Point, MS. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at Griffin cemetery in Moss Point with military honors.
