Obituary

On the morning of Thanksgiving, our beloved husband and father made his final transition to spend the holiday with his many loved ones who have gone before him. Michael L. Riser passed in the early hours of November 24, 2022, at his home with his little best friend Piper, and incredibly loving wife, Regina, by his side.

We are deeply saddened by this loss, but simultaneously rejoicing in his final homecoming, as there have been many he has lost and missed dearly.

Mike was raised in Pascagoula, and resided in Gautier for 33 years, but lived on the waters of Graveline Bayou, catching some of the biggest and best fish the waters had to offer.

He grew up working in his father's tire shop, Jim's Tire Company, in Pascagoula, learning the values of life; he graduated from PHS c/o '76. Mike entered the Mississippi Fire Academy in 1989 and pursued a career at Pascagoula Fire Department where he was promoted to Captain until his untimely retirement in 2004. In 1991, he met and fell in love with Regina. They were married under the great oaks on the shores of Graveline Bayou on August 17, 1991, and the two have grown in life and love for the past 33 years. Together they created a wonderful and loving life for their children, Meagan and Gene.

In the passing years, Mike was the owner of Pasco Plastics and Southpaw Construction Company. After Hurricane Katrina, he found purpose in the revitalization of Point Clear Riviera and became President of the Homeowners' Association. He met and fell in love with many of the community's children as he would "supervise" their swimming races and shuttle them to and from home for a day at the pool. He was everyone's, Mr. Mike.

Mike was the sixth child of James and Elizabeth Riser, husband of Regina Riser, and father to Meagan Riser-Riggs & Gene Cossey. Father-in-law to Michael Riggs, Pop to Brynlee Riggs, and soon-to-arrive grandson. '

Mike is also survived by his siblings, Debbie (Tommy) Price, Butch (Shelia) Riser, Robin (Penny) Riser, Sandra (Donald) Peterson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a long-time member of Dog River Bass Masters Fishing Club, former president of The Sons of the Legion at American Legion Post 1993.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James M. Riser, Sr. and Elizabeth D. Stegall, siblings David Riser, Ann Pickett, and Melinda Wiley, and best friend Donnie Bennett.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ocean Springs Hospital and Notre Dame Hospice. Services will be held at a later date.
