Obituary

Pauline Taylor Maier, age 84, passed away peacefully July 15, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving daughters, Mother is a Native American born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, on the Cherokee Reservation in a T-Pee May 18, 1937, to Charles Larenzo and Thelma Jenkins Taylor (AKA: Charlie and Jackie).
She was the 4th of six children: Mary McCormick, Betty Obrien, Charlene Anderson, Pauline Taylor Maier, Charles "Buddy" Taylor and Lorrie Hill.
Pauline was a dedicated, loving, and cherished mother to her own 6 children-Georgia Goss, Linda Burns, Patricia Roney McRae, Kenneth Stearns, William "Billy Stearns and Jacqueline "Jackie" Whatley. Becoming a mother at age 16 with three children by the age of 20, she became incredibly strong. She wasn't afraid of anyone or anything. She had just one weakness-her children. And when her daughter Linda died Nov 2011, she never regained the 1/6th of her heart that was broken. Through her, we truly know what love is.
Pauline worked 2 jobs during her 20's and 30's-days at Ft Sill, Oklahoma in the laundry department with her mother and sister for Civil Service and nights as a waitress.
Through resilience and perseverance, she obtained her college degree in business and progressed up the Civil Service ladder to a GS ll position as Chief of Revitalization and Marketing at DRMO Kessler-NAEC, Biloxi, MS, where she received her final award of appreciation for her 28 years of service from commander Col. Marx on her retirement May 31st, 2002.
Pauline was a beloved member of The Magnolia Swinger-that's Square Dancing Ya'll! She was an incredible square dancer. Her passion for dancing (and ice cream!) spanned 60+ years. She had a vivacious personality which was perfect for her dancing. She always made people around her laugh and made friends wherever she went and as an avid traveler-Thailand, Singapore, Germany, Alaska, Hong Kong, her friends were many. She was so very talented and beautiful.
Pauline was a Christian Woman. Her denominations included The Church of Christ in Oklahoma and Big Ridge Baptist Church in D'Iberville, MS. I can still hear my mother and grandmother, accompanied by all, belt out "Amazing Grace" Good Times.
Pauline is survived by her daughters and spouses: Georgia and Noel Goss, Patricia Roney McRae, Jackie and Billy Whatley; by her sons and spouses: Kenneth Stearns, Billy and Lisa Stearns; by 8 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 10 great granddaughters, 17 great grandsons, 5 great-great granddaughters and 17 great-great grandsons, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Jackie Taylor, by her siblings, Betty OBrien and Charlene Anderson, by her daughter, Linda Kay Burns, by her grandson, Anthony Edward Roney, 1 brother-in-law, Mac McCormick, 2 sons-in-law, Raymond Burns and Paul Vance, plus other loving family and friends.
The family wishes to than the many members of our mother's health care team, especially The Hospice of Light, for their compassionate care which includes-Catfish, Natasha, Paige, Zai and Shannon, God Bless You All.
In the days before her passing, we asked mother if there was anything she wanted to say to everyone and she shrugged her shoulders and said, "I've had a wonderful Life, I love you all" and waved smiling….. And her golden heart stopped beating.
