Peggy Church
November 1st, 1948 - April 28th, 2025
Peggy Church, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2025.
Peggy was a woman of deep faith, endless love, and quiet strength. She dedicated her life to raising her two sons with love, strength, and determination. When she married Don, her family grew as she gained two more children whom she loved immensely and embraced as her own. She taught her family the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity-always ready with a kind word or, when needed, the firm wisdom that shaped many lives.
Peggy loved to sing and cherished her church family. She had a special place in her heart for animals, always doting on her pets with gentle affection and treating them as part of the family. On Sunday mornings, you could always spot her in one of her many beautiful hats, smiling and sharing her joy with everyone she met. She was a loyal friend, a comforting presence, and a guiding light to all who knew her.
Peggy devoted much of her professional life to caring for others, retiring as Nurse Manager of the Biloxi VA Clinics, where she served veterans with compassion, leadership, and dedication.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Church; her son, Jack Woods; her mother, Margaret Joyce McCormick; and her father, Leroy Vaughn.
Peggy is survived by her children: Jeff Woods (Alicia), Brooke Fontenelle (Larry), and Scott Church (Amy); her daughter-in-law, Michelle Woods; her grandchildren: Carissa Mitchell (Thomas), Bryce Woods, Jeffrey Hurd (Sarah), Logan Fontenelle, Asher Woods, Adelyn Fontenelle, and Jillian Woods; and her great-grandchildren: Zachary, Bradley, Jodi, Anthony, and Abbigail. She also leaves behind her dearest friends, Denice and Billy Fairley, and Linda Gamblin, along with countless others whose lives she touched with her friendship and love.
While her family and friends grieve her loss, they find comfort knowing Peggy has been joyfully reunited with her loved ones in Heaven, especially her husband, Don.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Vancleave.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the love, prayers, and support shown during this time.
