Obituary

Peggy Joyce "P.J." Hunt passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones on March 8, 2026. It is with deep respect and gratitude for a life well-lived, that we remember a woman whose courage and compassion touched countless lives.

Born on December 7, 1947 in Pascogoula Mississippi. P.J. has been a member of the Ocean Springs community for the past 11 years. She also lived for many years in San Diego, California where she independently raised her four children. Throughout her life, P.J. wore many hats: she was a mother and a homemaker, a welder at Ingalls Shipbuilding, a medical assistant, and a barkeep. A true humanitarian, P. J. leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, benevolence and unwavering support for those in need. She believed in justice and second chances and had an extraordinary heart for giving with great empathy for others that carried into her later years where she volunteered with several nonprofit advocacy groups.

P.J. leaves behind a family who adored her and friends who will forever be grateful for her wisdom, strength, and encouragement. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Luke Hunt (Texas); her parents, Clinton E. and Thelma O. Clark; and her sister, Patsy J. Clark of Mississippi. She is survived by her four children: Mike Toney, Michelle Seeley, Chris Toney, and Tabitha Bump; her six grandchildren, Danny Toney, Michael Toney, Emyrald Seeley, Kaii Seeley, Mason Bump, and Quincie Bump; and her two sisters, Sherry Teer and Kathy Darby.

A Few Words From P.J. & An Unknown Source:

"I still believe that miracles can happen everyday,
I still think Angels sometimes come to wipe our tears away...

When night seems darkest, I believe we'll see a light shine clear
& when the storm is gone, I'm sure a rainbow will appear-

You're in my thoughts so often these days
I just want you to know- I'm hoping good things 4 you"
