Mr. Robert Clinton Gilbert, 70, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in Pascagoula. He was born on January 16, 1953, in Haleyville, Alabama, to Earl Clinton Gilbert and Mildred Frances Kitchens Gilbert.
Mr. Gilbert was a high school track star and went on to play football at Mississippi State University in 1971.
He had two B.S. degrees, one in Chemistry and one in Biology. Before retirement, he worked as a chemist for the Mississippi Power Company. Mr. Gilbert enjoyed boating and fishing, and anything to do on the water.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Andrew "Drew" Clinton Gilbert, and one brother, William Earl Gilbert.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Erin Gilbert-Yarger, and her husband, Andrew Yarger. Four precious grandchildren, Jon Taylor Yarger, Mary Paige Yarger, Cecilia Yarger, and Joseph Yarger. Brother, Jerry Gilbert and his wife, Sandy, four nephews, Chris Gilbert, Scott (Jenny) Gilbert, Brian (Jennifer) Gilbert, and Casey (Katie) Gilbert, niece, Dixie Gilbert-Cain, and husband Ricky. A very special cousin, Phillip Berry, and his wife, Glenda. Numerous great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, with Bro. Stanley Cannon officiating. Serving as pallbearers; Chris Gilbert, Scott Gilbert, Brian Gilbert, Casey Gilbert, Ricky Cain, and Phillip Berry.
The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice of Light for the excellent care and attention given to Mr. Gilbert. A special thank you to nurse Rhonda Deschesnes, and caregiver, Catherine Overstreet.
