Obituary

Age 79, of Hurley, Miss., entered eternal life Sunday evening, May 4, 2008, at his residence. He was born on March 11, 1929 in Brewer, Maine to the late Jack and Dot Libby. He is also preceded in death by his daughter Susan Libby; two brothers Jack and Bill Libby; and sister Jean Palmer. He will continue to live in the memories of his wife, Patricia Baria Libby, of Hurley, Miss.; three daughters Peggy Kemp, Gatlinburg, Tenn.; Beth Eneguess and her sons David and Michael, whom he loved dearly, of Peterborough, New Hampshire; and Sarah Libby, Raleigh, NC. The mother of his children, Ann Thayer. And with great memories in their hearts he will always be in spirit with his two step-sons Bruce and Brian McDonald, and his grandchildren Adam and Erin Coll, the children of his deceased daughter Susan. Jarvis Harrison and J.E. Cronier were special people in Bob's eyes and always good friends, ready at all times to assist Ms. Pat and Peggy with his personal care. It warmed Bob's heart to know that friends and family of the community, Gary and Tommy Baria, Lewis and Dee Yawn, and especially Paula and Ray Carpenter, were always willing to help with his care and support Ms. Pat. Bob will be remembered by many people along the coast who enjoyed his baking and looked forward to his visits. "Mr. Bob" or "Coach Libby" as he was known to many people in this area was an educator to all he met, especially young people of all ages. Until Hurricane Katrina hit the coast he and Ms. Pat owned and operated "The Libby Center" in Gautier, Miss. Many young children and staff enjoyed his food and special attention. In his early years he was an administrator, teacher, and coach in the northeast where he raised his children and helped educate the young people who were fortunate enough to have him in their schools. He was an avid sports fan, and in his final years loved to watch his "Lady Vols" from Tennessee. It was Bob's wish that no visitation be held. On Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 4pm to 6pm, all friends and family are welcome to join in a very informal gathering at the home of J.E. Cronier in Hurley. Bob's cremated remains will be scattered in the hills of Gatlinburg, Tenn., where he enjoyed staying with daughter Peggy, and was encouraged to treat her home as his second home. A special thanks to all the people who offered prayers, brought food, and joined in Bob's final vigil. Many thanks are extended to those who assisted Bob in his final years: South Mississippi's Nephrology's doctors, nurses, and staff; the staff of the D'Iberville Dialysis Clinic, the staff of Memorial Hospital, and the staff of Deaconess Home Health Hospice, especially Ms. Anna.
