Obituary

Mr. Ronald Stephen "Cap" Capdepon of Pascagoula passed away peacefully Friday, February 24, 2023. His three children and Faithful Dog Oliver were at his side. He was born in Bay St. Louis, MS, May 5th 1932. He has been a resident of Pascagoula since 1967. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
His passion for automobiles began at a young age and he was awarded first place junior state in the Fisher Body Guild model competition in 1947 for his hand built wooden car model. He served in the US Navy on the Minesweeper AM-58 Broadbill as an Engineman during the Korean War in the Mediterranean. In 1955 he married Betty Jean Fuente and they were married 49 years. He retired from Chevron in 1983 after working 30 years. His retirement years were spent rebuilding vintage Ford engines. He was well known throughout the Southeast for the high-quality engines he produced. He and his wife Betty enjoyed attending car shows and had many life long friends they had met at events around the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leon Charles Capdepon and Ena Mauffrey Capdepon; his wife Betty Jean Fuente Capdepon and Grandson Nicholas Stephen Capdepon.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Kay Sheldon (Ronnie), Paula Jean Davis (Ron), Stephen Gerard Capdepon (Deborah), sister Janis Grow, brother Charles Keith Capdepon and grandchildren Andrew Christopher Sheldon, Seth Tyler Sheldon and Great Grandson Brees Sheldon.
The family would like to thank the SRHS critical care unit and Hospice of Light for the compassionate care he received from their staff.
Visitation will be at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main Street Moss Point, MS Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 10am-11am with a Catholic Burial service at 11am in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Father Lalo from Sacred Heart. Burial will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
