Ronald Shane Helms
October 4, 1974 - February 6, 2026
Shane was a fun-loving, social man who never met a stranger and believed life was meant to be enjoyed. He loved his animals, cruising the Coast, spending time on the islands, and being out on the boat with friends. Mardi Gras season held a special place in his heart, and some of his favorite memories were made fixing up old cars alongside his dad. Wherever he went, laughter, stories, and friendship followed.
Shane was a dedicated member of the Sons of the American Legion, Gautier-Vancleave Post 1992, where he proudly served as SAL Commander and House Committee Chairman for multiple years. He was deeply committed to helping veterans and giving back to his community, organizing annual toy drives, raffles, fishing tournaments, and countless other acts of service. Straightforward, blunt, and known for being a "hard head," he was also fiercely loyal and deeply caring. Those he called friends knew they were loved, respected, and always had someone they could count on. His leadership, impact, and heart for others will not be forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Danny Kilgore. His grandparents, Leroy and Grace Helms, and Kenna and Jewell Byrd
He is survived by his mother, Rebecca Ann Kilgore; his father, Ronald Helms; his stepmother, Wanda Helms; his daughter, Breanna Helms Roberts; his grandchildren, Blake and Brady Roberts; his sister, Katie Helms Perkins; and his step-siblings, Scott Stork, Leslie Kilgore Cochran, and Danny Lee Kilgore. Many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family also survive him. Shane leaves behind his cherished dogs, June Carter and Johnny, who were a constant source of comfort and companionship.
Shane shared an especially deep bond with his mother, Rebecca. In the final chapter of his life, they spent unforgettable moments together, filled with love, laughter, and mutual support. His devotion to her was unwavering, and those closest to Shane witnessed how profoundly he cared for her, cherishing every moment they had.
Funeral services will be held this Thursday, February 12, 2026, in the Chapel of Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main Street, Moss Point, Mississippi 39563. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am, with a funeral service starting at 12:00 pm, followed by a Graveside Service at Griffin Cemetery.
Shane will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his love of living fully, and his unwavering way of showing up for the people he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
