Shirley Wise Craig, 87 of Moss Point, Mississippi, passed from this life on Monday, September 26, 2022, in Moss Point.
She was born October 2, 1934, in Altha, Florida to Daniel and Lonnie Wise.
Shirley loved her family, and they adored her. Her grandchildren were her world and she loved spending time with them. She would cook large meals, enough to feed an army. So much so that when the families would leave, they had enough leftovers to eat for two or three days.
She was very artistic, she enjoyed making ceramics and creating yard art. One special thing she crafted was "twirlies", which are wind chimes made from plastic coke bottles she would cut in a swirl pattern. She also enjoyed gardening and roses were her favorite flower.
Miss Shirley had been employed as a cafeteria worker for many years at Ed Mayo Junior High School. If any student forgot their lunch or couldn't afford to buy lunch, she made certain no child went hungry. Years later adult men and women would approach her and thank her for feeding them in junior high school.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles G. Craig, Sr., her sister, Mrs. Opal (Carl) Norwood, 2 daughters, Cynthia Gail Ladnier, and Rebecca Diane Ladnier Hutto, and her first husband, Robert L. Ladnier.
She is survived by her children, Loren (Darlene) Ladnier, and their 3 children and 9 grandchildren. Robert Steven Ladnier and his 5 children and 4 grandchildren, Brian (Cynthia) Craig and their 8 children and 5 grandchildren, Charles (Suzanne) Craig Jr., and their 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Granddaughter, Kristy (Jimmie) Thornton and their 7 children and 2 grandchildren, granddaughter, Robin (Olin) Williams and their 2 children, and grandson Charles Hutto.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 3, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS 39563, the funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Kenneth Springle officiating. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons, Keith Craig, Phillip Craig, Caleb Craig, and Jacob Craig. Honorary pallbearers are Conner Craig and Bobby Ladnier.
