Shirley Ward Cumbest, 91, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, December 17th. She was born on May 8, 1933, to William and Daisey Ward of Wade.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carlton, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, her parents, and her sisters, Maxine Coleman and Arleen Harwood.

Shirley is survived by sister Polly (Bertis) Goff, daughters Renee (Mike) McGhee of Lucedale, and Rhonda Havard of Wade, grandchildren Rob (Amy) Parker, Amber (Reag) Wood, Brian McGhee, great-grandchildren Micah Solis, Savannah Wood, Zacharia Wood, Reid Parker, Anniston Parker and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hilda Stout for the compassionate and exceptional care provided to Shirley during her illness.



Pallbearers will be Rob Parker, Brian McGhee, Greg Goff, W.H. Goff, Reag Wood and Donald Ellzey. Honorary pallbearer Joe Allen Ellzey.



Visitation will be held Monday, December 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM, and service to follow at 12 Noon at Caswell Springs Methodist Church. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Caswell Springs Building Fund.
