Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Sue Elizabeth Watts, age 85, of Moss Point, Mississippi, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Shirley was born on June 27, 1939, in McComb, Mississippi, to Bernest and Myrtis Holmes Scott. She was a loving wife to her beloved husband, Earl Watts. Throughout her life, Shirley touched the hearts of many. She found joy in her work at R&R Skate Rink and dedicated herself as a substitute teacher and homemaker, always putting her family first. She cherished her role as a member of Four Mile Creek Baptist Church and took pride in her involvement with the Singing River Auxiliary and Pascagoula Bowling League. A true nurturer, Shirley was an accomplished seamstress, a guiding hand for her grandchildren with their school projects, and a creative spirit who crafted beautiful items for Vacation Bible School.

Shirley was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Earl Watts; her parents, Bernest Scott and Myrtis Holmes; her beloved siblings, Rosie Nell Scott, Jake Lewis Calvin Albritton, Linda Kay Green, James Kenneth Scott, Burnest Taft Scott ("Tater"), and Justin Clay Scott; as well as a grandchild, Jarred Long.

She leaves behind a loving legacy through her children, Lenita (Mitchell) Long, Regina (Jeff) Pound, Tonya (Jason) Lundy, and her bonus daughter, Ann Young. Shirley was a devoted grandmother to Jeremy Long (Rick), Jennifer Alford, Caleb Lundy (Anna), Destyne Caldwell (Zachary), and Joel Lundy, and she adored her great-grandchildren, Addison Sue Guillen Long, Raelynn Alford, Aubrie Alford, Griffin Lundy, June Lundy, and Eden Lundy. Her siblings, Sandra Jane Langley, Burnest Burrell Scott, Terell Zacheriah Scott, Glenn Allen Scott, and sister-in-law Kay Scott, will also hold her memory close to their hearts.

A visitation to celebrate Shirley's life will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Holder Wells Funeral Home, located at 4007 Main Street, Moss Point, MS. Following the visitation, her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at the same location, with a graveside service to follow at Serene Memorial Garden Cemetery on Highway 613, Moss Point, MS.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time, and we invite all who knew and loved Shirley to join us in honoring her remarkable life.
