Stanley (Stooley) Rogers Byrd
83 years old of Escatawpa, Mississippi died on August 31st, 2021.
Stanley loved the outdoors, and he was an avid shrimper for 45 years. He was Captain of the Wave Dancer and numerous other boats. He had a passion for fixing and riding motorcycles. He was employed at Ingalls as a pipe fitter / pipe welder for 30 years. He was also a lifelong member of Community of Christ Church (RLDS) of Escatawpa. Stanley had a love for mischief and fun. His greatest adventure was the marriage to the love of his life, Patricia Ann. Stanley passed away in their home surrounded by his family.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert and Thelma (Rogers) Byrd; sister Mary Ellen Ellis, sister-in-law Jo Anne Byrd; his beloved children Sherry Byrd Smith and Ricky Byrd, daughter-in-law Donna Byrd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia Ann Byrd of Escatawpa; son, Micheal (Mary) Byrd of Big Point; daughters, DiAnne Byrd of Escatawpa; Barbie (Dwayne) Duckworth of Three Rivers. Brothers, Robert (Bobby) Byrd, James (Bo) (Pauline) Byrd. Brother-in-law Robert Ellis.
His grandchildren are Anita Ray Byrd and Rikki Lynn (Eric) Estes both of Helena; Christy Smith (Denny) Paulk of Big Point and Jeremy (Bre) Smith of Hurley; Stanley (Jessica) Byrd of Pensacola, Phillip (Elizabeth) Byrd of Atlanta and Jacob (Whitney) Byrd of Hurley; Stephen (Taylor) Martin of Escatawpa; John (Sydney) Stone of Pascagoula, Adam Stone of Escatawpa, Ethan (Alana) Williams of Lucedale, and Luke (Caroline) Williams of Vancleave. Stanley has 14 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Smith, Stanley Byrd, Phillip Byrd, Jacob Byrd, Stephen Martin,Johnathon Stone, and Ethan Williams.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 4th, 2021 at Community of Christ Church in Escatawpa. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm until service time. Service will begin at 3:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Community of Christ Cemetery all under the direction of Holder Wells Funeral Home. Brother Terry Breland will be officiating.
