Obituary

Sven- Erik Engdorf, born in Denmark March 2, 1934, he passed away on May 8, 2011 after a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure. He was preceded in death by Mother Ida Lily and Father Arthur Ricard Engdorf. Survived by Wife Betty Larsen Engdorf of Moss Point, MS; Son, Paul Arthur Engdorf; Daughters, Kathrine Anne Bosarge, Kirsten Ellis and Karen Engdorf; brother, Henning Engdorf; niece, Berit Engdorf; nephew, Jan Engdorf of Denmark and grandchildren Paul, Laura and Richard Engdorf and Vaughn, Shelly and Mitchell Bosarge and great grandchildren Spencer, Dustin and Nichole Frulla. Sven-Erik served in the Royal Danish Air Force as a Technical Sergeant, during which time his troop was sent to Keesler Air Force Base in 1952 for radar training under the NATO program where he met his wife Betty Larsen. They were married in Denmark and then returned to the United States where by which Sven-Erik obtained his U.S. Citizenship in 1959. They have been married for 57 years. He was owner of Erikâ??s T.V. in Pascagoula , MS; in addition, he served the community as a Major of the Civil Air Patrol, Civil Defense, an active member of Pascagoula Jaycees and Pascagoula Elks Lodge. He pursued a culinary career with studies at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park New York at age 50. He was chef at the Longfellow House Restaurant in Pascagoula, MS prior to moving to St. Louis in 1986 where he worked as Executive Chef at St. Louis University Hospital also part time instructor at St. Louis Community College in Forest Park. He was also Executive Chef at Copenhagen Restaurant in Clayton, MO and for a year was Personal Chef for August A Busch, Jr. of Busch Breweries. He was a Member of American Culinary Federation and St. Louis Chefs De Cuisine, where he was an honored recipient of the DuBois T. C. Chen Award for Exemplary service to the Culinary Profession. Member of the Living Word Lutheran Church at The Woodlands, TX.
