Terry Breland, Jr., 50, of Wade, Mississippi passed from this life on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He was surrounded by his loving and devoted family and many friends from Vancleave High School and Ocean Springs High School as a teacher and administrator, retiring from Ocean Springs High School as an Assistant Principal. He was a life long active member of the Community of Christ Church from Escatawpa, Vancleave and Orlando, Florida, as he traveled throughout the many places he worked. He is survived by his parents, Joyce Lockhart Breland and Terry Breland, Sr., of Wade, Mississippi. Also, a devoted sister, Juanita Hiestand, whom he loved spending time with and nieces, Kristin and Jessica Hiestand whom he adored. Also has a host of other relatives and devoted friends that are too numerous to name. Terry was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Verna and Charles Taylor, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Louise Jewell and Roland Lockhart, Sr. He spent his life sharing his gift of playing the piano for church, funerals, weddings, as well as community gatherings. He could never pass a piano that he did not have to stop and play whether it was outside on a sidewalk or in a church. He realized he was given a gift from God to play the piano and he devoted much of his time to play for the worship services at the Community of Christ Church in Orlando as well as other churches. Terry was a people person, especially devoted to working with the youth at school, church camps and many organizations that were youth oriented. He also loved to travel and especially enjoyed the beaches, the sun and sand. Terry enjoyed life immensely and we often say, he lived two lifetimes in one. Although he lived in Florida for a number of years, he was devoted to his family and stayed in touch with them weekly and loved coming home for Christmas for a seafood dinner. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 4:00 until 6:00pm at the Community of Christ Church of Escatawpa 4220 Dan Sherman Road Moss Point, Mississippi 39562. A memorial service will follow at 6:00pm from the church with Elder JoAnn Lutes and Dr. Robert Hirsch officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to the Community of Christ Church Youth Program at 2515 Hardy Parker Road Moss Point, Mississippi 39562.
