It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Thelma Lou Key, age 89, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, who left us on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Lighthouse Assisted Living in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
Thelma was born on December 17, 1935, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to loving parents Fed and Arie Porter. She found her soulmate in Jake Monroe Key, and their life together was filled with love and cherished memories.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jake, her parents Fed Benton Porter and Arie Watts Porter, and her dear brother TJ Porter. Their absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.
Thelma leaves behind her devoted children, Debra Harrison (Ricky) and Lisa Bryan (Pat), along with five adoring grandchildren: Paige Tyra (Brad), Austin Stewart, Brendan Collins (Meagan), Brandon Collins, and Dakota Phillips (Jamie). Her heart swells with pride for her eleven great-grandchildren: Kade, Kyleigh, Aydan, Chloe, Kaleb, Nini, Kailen, Ethan, Lucas, Camryn, and Claire James. She is also survived by her siblings, Roy Porter (Juanita), Sue Painter (Tony), Maxine Stork (Jack), and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her deeply.
Thelma was a woman of faith who found joy in attending church, volunteering at Ballots, and challenging herself with crossword puzzles. Her warm spirit and kindness touched the lives of so many.
A graveside service to honor her life will be held at Jackson County Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared.
