Vanda Jean (Alice Vanda Jean Ard) Cauley went to her heavenly home on March 8, 2023. She was born on August 17, 1927, in Varnado, Louisiana to the late Henry Ervin Ard and Mary Fortenberry. Her great great grandchildren, Tripp Shepler, Riley and Rowan Nunn, Sawyer Bolton, Mackenzie and Madison White.
She married the love of her life, C. D. Cauley, on April 1, 1944. They would raise 3 sons, Dwight, Tim, and Mark, and enter a lifetime of ministry, founding Forts Lake Assembly of God Church from a single room cinderblock building to a 25-acre, multi-building campus. She was the backbone of the church. While spending her favorite days as a pastor's wife, her happy place was tending to all of the babies in the nursery. Helping brides prepare for their wedding days and working all the summer camps was something she always cherished.
She loved people. She loved being with her family. She loved her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. They were her whole world. Most of all, she loved serving others. In the garden and in the kitchen, her servant's heart and love for others was displayed as she worked to nourish the natural. It was even more evident as she poured out prayers and tears around the altars to nourish the spiritual. Like a true, precious woman of God, she was either cooking or praying for you. Her prayers, love, and support were unmatched.
While we are deeply grieved by the loss of her here on earth, we know, as she did, that Jesus will reunite us again, and we eagerly await that day. Until then, we keep her in our hearts and strive to be more like her, because she strived to be more like Him.
