Velma Agnes Hill, 88, passed away on April 2, 2023, surrounded by her children, in Lucedale, Mississippi.
Mrs. Hill was born on September 25, 1934, in Fern Springs, located in Winston County, Mississippi. She married Milton Howard Hill on June 28, 1952. She spent her thirty-eight years of marriage being a devoted mother and wife, a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS., cooking for her family and enjoying thrift store shopping with her sister. Mr. Hill preceded her in death on April 19, 1990. Mrs. Hill was preceded by her parents, John Lewis Powe, and Emma Sylvester Powe, and four siblings, Alma (Carol) Hester, Everett Powe, James Powe, and Marie (Sam) Furby.
She is survived by four children, Kathy (Winston) Lee, Helena, MS., Mark (Bridgett) Hill, Lucedale, MS.,
Lynn (Danell) Hill, Wade, MS., and Darryl (Shawn) Hill, Hurley, MS. 11 grandchildren, Paula (Cameron) Mason, Terry (Amber) Lee, Erin (Ryan) Pew, Barbie Hill, Austin Despasquale, Logan Hill, Lisa (John) Bell, Tim (Moira) Hill, Tyler (Ainsley) Hill, Shelby (Nick) McDaniel, and Tiffany (Kris) McPhaie. Numerous great and great-great-grandchildren are left behind.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main St., Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor William Hancock officiating. Pallbearers will be Cameron Mason, Terry Lee, Ryan Pew, Logan Hill, Tim Hill, and Tyler Hill. Graveside burial service will immediately follow at Johnson's cemetery in Wade, MS.
