Mrs. Virginia Rivers Atwell Lyons, age 87 of Kreole, MS died June 16, 2009 at Sunplex in Ocean Springs, MS. She was born July 8, 1921 in Citronelle, AL to Nancy Sullivan River Atwell and Dorsey Rivers. Mrs. Lyons was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She graduated from Moss Point High School and was a member of Kreole Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ivy Atwell, Jr. (Janet), Donnis Atwell; sister Yvonne (J.C.) Morie; and grandson John Jefferson Lyons, III. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John Jefferson Lyons, Sr. of Kreole, MS; children John Jefferson and Sandra Lyons, Jr. of Pascagoula, MS; Terrell and Barbara Lyons of Auston, TX; Malva Riley of Big Point, MS; Deborah Brigham of Eugene, OR; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Green of Hurley, MS. 12 grandchildren David (Jackie) Lyons of Pascagoula, MS, Mrs. Aimee (Jeff) Lyons Haskin of Mobile, AL, Brent Lyons of Cape Coral, FL, Elizabeth Lyons-Beal of Sacramento, VA, Alex Lyons of Kreole, MS, Desiree (Jared) Likes of Sparks, NV, Leann Philyaw of Picayune, MS, Kim (Steven) Foster of Hurley, MS, Jennifer (Todd) Walters of Hurley, MS, Celeste Gaultney of Salt Lake City, UT, Wendy (E.J.) Visitation will be Thursday, June 18th, from 12:30 until 2:00 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Wilbur Hall officiating. Burial will be at W.R. Clark Memorial Cemetery in Forts Lake. Pallbearers will be Todd Walters, Steve Foster, Brian Green, David Lyons, Brent Lyons, E.J.
