Virginia Rathel, 83, of Ashland, Kentucky, died peacefully Thursday morning July 14, 2022, in Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility.

Virginia was born August 19, 1938, in Pensacola, Florida, one of five daughters born to the late Harold and Ruth Thompson Dagneau. In addition to her parents, she was reunited in Heaven with two husbands, Vernon Glen Cooke and John F. Rathel; a daughter, Brenda Stewart; a stepson, John A. Rathel; and a grandson, Malachi Stewart.

Virginia retired following a 40-year career as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Gordon E. Cooke of Ashland, KY, Harold Cooke of Cantonment, FL and Wesley Cooke of Lucedale, MS; sisters, Phyllis Pearson of Gulf Breeze, FL, Liz Panco of Table Rock, NE, Linda Simmons of Pensacola, FL, and Betty Hyde of Derby, KS; grandchildren, Bruce Cooke, Kerrie Collins, Ryan Cooke, Justin Cooke, Sunday Stewart, Danielle Brickner Alexis Brickner, Samantha Cooke, Seth Cooke, Shelly Rathel, and Terrie Lynn Rathel ; numerous great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Serene Memorial Gardens in Moss Point, Mississippi.
