W. J. Brown, a cherished member of the Moss Point community, passed away at the age of 90 on October 31, 2024, reuniting with the Lord he faithfully served throughout his life. Born on May 30, 1934, in the quaint town of Johnson Square, Mississippi, to Luster and Ruth Brown, he greatly embodied the values of family, faith, and dedication.

Mr. Brown's love for his family was unparalleled. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Lennep Brown, who was his partner in life and love. He also leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with his children, Walter J. Brown Sr. (Suzi) and Alisha Fox (Jimmy), along with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who will forever hold his spirit in their hearts. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Ray, Stanley Bernard, and Leroy Brown, as well as his grandson, Ronnie Fountain, whose absence he dearly felt.

A longstanding member of Trinity Bible Church, Mr. Brown was a man of strong faith, dedicating his life to serving others. His passions extended beyond his faith; he found immense joy in cooking for his family, always ensuring that gatherings were filled with delicious meals and laughter. He also took great pleasure in working on small equipment, showcasing his knack for problem-solving and hands-on handiwork. Mr. Brown was an avid fisherman, often spending tranquil days on the water, and a devoted Atlanta Braves fan, relishing in the excitement of the game.

Mr. Brown's professional journey was marked by a remarkable 39 years of service within the Moss Point School System. His commitment to education was exemplified during his long tenure as the principal of Escatawpa Elementary School, where he influenced countless lives and fostered an environment of learning and growth for both students and staff alike. His dedication to nurturing young minds was a testament to his belief in the power of education.

A visitation to celebrate Mr. Brown's extraordinary life will be held on November 4, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Holder-Wells Funeral Home-Coastal Chapel, 12800 Highway 613 South, Moss Point, MS 39562.

The funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM, followed by a committal service at Serene Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest among the serene beauty he cherished in life. In the hearts of all who knew him, W. J. Brown leaves an indelible mark, a testament to a life richly lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
