Walter Emory Eklund 96 of Moss Point, passed away July 6,2019 in Pascagoula,. Mr. Eklund was born on May 29,1923 in Bogalousa, LA. He was a member and a deacon of Forts Lake Assembly of God Church for seventy years. He retired from the maintenance at International Paper Company. He served his Lord by way in helping with many charities, including the Home of Grace, and the Prison Ministries. He served his country with pride and dedication with the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Eklund was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Helen Eklund, his brothers Carl Eklund, Ronnie Eklund and Charles Eklund and his sisters Katie Duck, Patricia Eklund, and Juanita Eklund
He is survived by his loving daughters Linda (Larry) Downs of Spanish Fort, AL and Darlene (Steven) Durgane of Lothian Maryland; his brother Jack Eklund of Jackson, MS; and his sister Mary Tanner of Movella, MS. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Russell (Jamie) Downs and Randall (Ashley) Downs and his great grandchildren Helen and Davis Downs. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Visitation for Mr. Eklund will be Friday July 12,2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 at Forts Lake Assembly of God Church. The funeral will be Saturday July 13,2019 beginning at 11:00 am at Forts Lake Assembly of God Church with Rev. Tim Cauley officiating. Burial will follow in the Finnish Lutheran cemetery in Kreole, MS.
