Mrs. Wanda Gail Smith 79, of Jackson County, MS passed away on September 22, 2022, in Pascagoula, MS surrounded by her family. Gail was born in Jones County on August 11,1943. Gail was a beautiful caring soul who loved Jesus deeply. Gail was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to be a mother and friend to everyone.

She loved and believed in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She cherished her daily Bible study and prayer time. Family and friends knew that she prayed for them by name daily. She was a devoted member of Ridglea Heights Baptist Church, where she genuinely loved her ministers and all of the ladies in her Sunday school class - attending was the highlight of her week. She was an amazing cook, seamstress and she thoroughly enjoyed making quilts for her family. She welcomed all to her home, where she often presented guests with a Jesus Calling devotional. Gail had a very optimistic outlook on life and her eternal future. She encouraged all to allow Jesus to lead them through life circumstances, as she firmly believed Jesus was in control of all things. She, along with her husband Byrun, owned and operated City Cleaners and Covered Wagon Western Store on Main Street in Moss Point, MS for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Byrun Smith and her father and mother, Wayne and Doris Martin.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children Jimmy (Debbie) Smith of Hurley and Kim (Terry) Scott, Jr. of Pascagoula. Her grandchildren Kaitlyn (David) Page, Kye Smith, Kaden Smith, Jonathan Mansfield, Brayden Scott, Aaron (Minda) Scott, Jason (Christie) Scott, Alison (Shaq) Graves and Brooxanne (Jacob) Standford. Great-Grandchildren Cambree Page, Kennedy Page, Jesse Scott, Cypress Scott, Andy Scott, Stella Scott, Anna Lee Scott, Abby Scott, Samuel Graves, Avery Graves and Amelia Graves. Close friends Glenda Pryor, Renee Barton, Pat Woodward and her Yorkie furbaby, Sawyer and other friends and relatives.

Visitation will be Saturday September 24,2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Ridglea Heights Baptist Church, 12601 Hwy 613, Moss Point, MS 39562. The funeral will begin at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary with Rev. Steve Cirlot and Jimmy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Serene Gardens Cemetery,12800 Hwy 613, Moss Point, MS 39562. Pallbearers are David Page, Kye Smith, Kaden Smith, Jonathan Mansfield, Brayden Scott and Randy Carney. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that monetary consideration be given to the Ridglea Heights Baptist Church, Growing to New Heights Building Fund.
