William "Robert" Crowley, born on May 6, 1931, in Hacoda, Alabama. He was the eldest child of Fred and Maudie Crowley, who preceded him in death.
After serving his nation in the U.S. Navy, Robert returned home and married the love of his life, Lynette Olivia (Wells) Crowley. They were married 65 Years. Together, they raised a family in Escatawpa, Mississippi while Robert worked for the International Paper Company until he retired in 1994 after 43 years.
Together they raised three children, James (Angela) Crowley of Pensacola, FL; Michael (Gayla) Crowley of Escatawpa; and Dianne Combest of Vancleave.
Throughout his 86 years, he was known as Dad, Robert, Uncle Robert, W.R. Coach or "Red". But at least 20 or 21 people called him a most beloved name, and that was Pawpaw. Pawpaw leaves (9) grandchildren and their spouses to cherish his memories: James Jr. (Amber) Crowley, Mobile,AL; Shane Crowley, Houston, TX; Shannon (Mike) Allman, Pensacola, FL; Casey (Ryen) Combest, Jackson, MS; Katie (Shawn) Shiraz, Fort Collins, CO; Kayla (Robert) Gardner, Jackson, MS; Chasity (Shane) Mason, Moss Point, MS; Ashley (Rick) Hilsabeck, Pascagoula, MS; and Paige (Dustin) Delmas, Helena, MS.
He also leaves (8) great grandchildren: Taylor Crowley; Blake Crowley; Silas Mason; Amos Mason; Sadie Hilsabeck and soon to be born Margaret "Maggie" Hilsabeck; Addison Combest, Kamdyn Clark who is not born of his blood, but is a great grandchild in his heart.
In addition to his Wife, Children, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Robert is also survived by his brothers and sisters, who include: Royce (Shirley) Crowley; Dorothy Griggs; Freddie Crowley; Deronda Parker; Donna Kay (Brad) Pettit; Debra (Mich) Hanberry, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that he considered family.
He is also preceded in death by his grandsons, Jonathan Clay Crowley and Jerod Michael Crowley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Orie Wells; sister-in-law Rosemary Crowley; sister-in-law Vernita Davis; brother-in-law's Jim Griggs, Doyle Parker, and Billy Garner, also his nephew Phillip Griggs.
The family would like to extend deepest heartfelt appreciation to trusted family members and friends, Savannah Clark and Aunt Virginia for their love, care, and assistance in helping us take care of Dad, in his last few weeks. We would also like to thank Brenda Haynes and Pauline Pace who sat for us, and Hospice Of Light.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Elder Ben Seals. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens, in Moss Point, MS. The Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
