William Hugh Fletcher, age 80, passed away on August 10, 2019, at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on October 20, 1938, in Pascagoula. William was a graduate of Pascagoula High School in 1957, and went on to graduate from the University of Southern Miss. He served in the U.S. Army as a bodyguard to President John F. Kennedy. He retired from Chevron as a safety engineer. He enjoyed spending time with family and watching his grandsons play football. William was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, as well as American Legion Post 1120 in Broken Arrow. He was a member of Pascagoula Masonic Lodge #419, and Pascagoula BPOE Elks Lodge #1120. William was preceded by his mother, Arie Fletcher; father, William Fitzhugh Fletcher; mother in law and father in law, Mr. and Mrs. Lenwood Blackmon; grandson, Pierce Stevens; and brother in law, George
"BeBe" Colville. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen Blackmon Fletcher; daughter, Kathleen Stevens and husband Mark; son, William Fitzhugh Fletcher; grandsons, William Stevens, Dennis Stevens, Max Stevens, and Jack Stevens; sister, Una Fletcher Colville; sister-in-law, Nancy Boler, and husband Forrest; brother in law, Buddy Blackmon; and numerous nieces nephews, and other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, at 10:30 AM at Red Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. John Tucker officiating.
