Dr. William Paul Gattis, 88 of Pascagoula, MS, passed from this life on Sunday July 7, 2019 in Pascagoula, MS. He was born the only child, March 27, 1931 in Montgomery, Al to William Paul Gattis, Sr., and Ida Jeanette Crawford Gattis.
Dr. Gattis graduated from Ocean Springs High School, Perkinston Junior College and Loyola University Dental School. Known as the "Whistling Dentist", He practiced in Moss Point, MS for 33 years. He also serviced The Home of Grace Ministries with dentistry. Dr. Gattis was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Pascagoula, for 29 years. He had served as Little League Baseball Commissioner in Moss Point, was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and United States Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Paul and Ida J. Gattis, Sr.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Delores Griffin Gattis, children, Paula Jeanette Gattis Grady, William Gary Gattis and wife Charlotte, Robert Lee Gattis, Stephen Greg Gattis and wife, Lori. Granchildren, Richard Ryan Grady, Kristen Nichole Gattis Oakes, John Daniel Grady, William Gabriel Gattis, and Matthew Lee Gattis. Great grandchildren, Andrew Hunter Oakes, Henry James Grady, Addison Nichole Oakes, William Gavin Gattis, Mary Hannah Grady, and Marilyn Lea Gattis.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 10 a.m. until 11a.m. at First United Methodist Church Pascagoula, 2710 Pascagoula St., Pascagoula, MS 39567. Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. from the church sanctuary with Rev. Earl Greenough officiating. Entombment will be at Jackson County Memorial Park, Pascagoula, MS. Serving as pallbearers are; Matt Gattis, Gabe Gattis, Ryan Grady, Calvin Pierce, Wes Judy, and John Daniel Grady.
