Woodrow Wilson Deihl Jr., "Woody", born December 6, 1947, was a graduate of Northumberland High School in Heathsville, VA, class of 1966. He was also a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam from '67-'69.
He was a proud man who looked at the world through realistic eyes. His loyalty, love for family and friends, and logical thinking always had him planning for the future and looking out for the next big adventure.
Woody had a passion for traveling to new destinations and seeing the world. As a motorcycle enthusiast, he rode his bike through all 48 continental states. He traveled to five different continents, countless countries, and islands, and brought back the most beautiful photographs and memories. So many memories, in fact, that he published a book, "Travels with Harley", which documented his motorcycle trip across the country.
When he was at home, he was cooking his famous gumbo, watching an Alabama football game, or reading books about wanderlust or historical fiction. He enjoyed more than anything to spend time with his loved ones and regularly handed out "pearls of wisdom" to those who needed it. He was adored, respected, and inspired by everyone who met him.
Woodrow was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lula Pearl Deihl, his wife, Kathy Deihl, brother, Dougie Deihl, and sister Pamela Deihl.
Survivors are his children, Richie (Vickie) Deihl, Tracy Deihl, and Brandon Deihl. Grandchildren, Katie Guessford, Alexis Deihl, Kyle Guessford, Hailey Deihl, Zachary Deihl, and Perry Deihl. 2 great-great-grandchildren, Maddox Tipper, and Taelyn Guessford with a third great-great grandson due in November. One sister, Betty Jo Jett. And loyal pet Bud.
A celebration of Woody's life will be announced at a later date.
