Edna Dixon Mizelle

Edna Dixon Mizelle, age 86, passed from this life on May 17, 2014. She was born in Benndale, MS on July 17, 1927. She was the firstborn child of David Caphus and Rose Dixon. She flourished and grew up in a loving family. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Leonard David Mizelle; her heart and only son, Jimmy Len Mizelle; parents, David Caphus and Rose Dixon; brother, Edmund Dixon. Mrs. Mizelle is survived by her only daughter, Rose Loquita (Ervin Delaney) Mizelle Holliman; grandchild, Johnathan Kemp Pittman; brothers, Earl (Edna Mae) Dixon of Semmes, AL, Joe Dixon, of Rocky Creek, MS, J.D. (Martha Ann) Dixon, of Benndale, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She was very close to her brothers and thought of and spoke of them daily, she was forever their BIG SISTER and they were always her loved younger brothers. She was a caring, wonderful mother who remained at home during her children’s growing years making a safe comfortable home environment. She took them to church and made sure they were introduced to Jesus. In midlife she returned to outside work and worked 20 years at West Elementary School in Moss Point as a cook. She enjoyed the work and loved and respected her coworkers. She was a member of TOPS where she met and kept her weight loss goals. She very much enjoyed the meetings. She became a member of the UMC as a child. When she moved to Orange Grove, MS 59 years ago she joined Midway United Methodist Church, where she attended looking forward to the worship and fellowship. She loved to fish and be outside doing yard work. She was a great cook and excellent seamstress. She was a good friend and always gave her best to everyone. To her daughter Rose Loquita she was a special gift from GOD. Family will receive guests from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home. A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, with Reverend Tom East officiating.
