Nannie Mae (Nancy) Alexander went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Mrs. Alexander passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 22,1923, in Louisville, MS to Clem and Beatrice (Bea) Slawson, Mrs. Alexander married the love of her life, James L. Alexander on May 6,1945. Mrs. Alexander was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. There was nothing more Mrs. Alexander loved than having her family around her. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, making jelly, knitting, quilting, and of course playing cards and Chicken Foot (Dominoes). The greatest treat for Mrs. Alexander was a trip to Popeye’s for her favorite food… Spicy Wings, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy or Onion Rings and an Apple Pie (without cinnamon sugar). Saturday morning shopping sprees almost always ended with a trip to Popeye’s. During her last few months… her favorite treat became a Caramel Frappe from McDonalds…who would have thought it??!! Mrs. Alexander also loved to travel… saying she was going to “keep the roads hot”. Mrs. Alexander was of the Baptist Faith and was a faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church in Pascagoula, where she and her late husband, James L. Alexander were members for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents Clem and Bea Slawson, a sister Lois Myers, a baby brother (unnamed), her husband James L. Alexander, grandson, Allen Goff and son-in-law Richard T. McGovern. Mrs. Alexander is survived by her children … Lynda (Clyde) Pound, Sandra (Buddy) Holyfield, Kathy (James) McGovern-Besse, Cynthia (Greg) Goff and Mike (Teresa) Alexander. Grandchildren: Kevin (Eva) Pound, Tonia (Michael) Huffman, Lisa (Andy) Blake, Angie (Phil) Holland, Tobie Nix, Elizabeth (Wray) Simpkins, Josh Goff, Shawn (Courtney) Goff, James (Michael) Alexander, Stephanie (Brian) Robinson, Jessica Lunney and Zachary (Chrystal) Alexander and numerous great grandchildren as well as step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Delane (Laura) Slawson, sister Doard Bell Gregory and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Holder-Wells Funeral Home 4007 Main St. Moss Point, MS 39563 and the Funeral Service will be held at Riverside Baptist Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday October 18, 2017, with Reverend Tracy Martin officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church an hour before the service. There will no graveside service.
