Mrs. Barbara Joyce Clark

Barbara Joyce Walker, 78, passed away Wednesday, May 27, in the home she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth Clyde Clark, son Darrel Clark, grandson Paul Clark, mother and stepfather Vivian and Ed Johnston, father and stepmothers E.L., Lucille and Grace Walker, brothers James and Wayne Walker and in-laws Jim and Cricket Clark. She is survived by sisters Louise Barnett and Virginia Howard, sons Danny (Liz) Clark of Ashland, Missouri, Dennis (Sheila) Clark of Big Point, daughter Darlene (John) Tighe of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, daughter-in-law Roxanne Clark, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Barbara Joyce Walker Clark, or Bobbie Joyce as she was often called, was born Sept. 27, 1936 in Brooklyn, Mississippi to Elmer and Vivian Walker. Bobbie spent the first 15 years of her life growing up in and around Karnes and Wiggins. That all changed in 1952 when she met a suitor from the coast, Kenneth Clyde “K.C.” Clark. One week shy of her 16th birthday, she and K.C. were married and moved to Kreole, Mississippi. After having four children, K.C. and Bobbie bought some land and built a house in Big Point, or the Ridge as they called it, in 1971, where she spent the last 44 years of her life. While K.C. worked at International Paper for 40 years, Bobbie took care of the rest of the family. She handled sports and band practices, parties, meals, chores, and of course, keeping the family in line. She could whip up an impromptu meal with ease and was always quick to get a spare room ready for company. Barbara was truly a woman of the south, opening her heart and home to both friends and family, as well as a menagerie of groups from baseball teams to school bands and even “trashy” 90s grunge “thugs,” as she liked to say. She was always there for the kids and grandkids and she had a huge heart, which also made her passionate about the things she loved. She was also passionate about the Lord, serving him as a member of the Safe Harbor United Methodist Church and singing in the choir, playing piano and even teaching Sunday School in the past. Whether she was driving you to baseball or band practice, to the “Pig” for groceries, making a quick trip to Biloxi or driving you crazy, she was always Bobbie Joyce. There will never be another like her. Visitation will be held at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS, on Friday May 29,2015, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday May 30,2015 at 10 a.m. from the Holder-Wells Chapel with a viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Serene Memorial Gardens cemetery in Moss Point, MS. Pallbearers are Joshua, Justin and David Clark, Henry Fulmer, Tommy Smith and Mike Walker with Steve Tolar serving as an honorary pallbearer. Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
