Mrs. Betty Robinson

Betty Brice Robinson passed away peacefully at her home in New Orleans on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the age of 91. She was born on July 14, 1925 in Fairlee, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Herbert Houston Robinson. Also, preceding her in death are her brothers Joe Brice, Richard Brice, Tilden Brice, and John Brice and her sister Nina Brice. She was one of eleven children and grew up in the heart of the Great Depression. She attended nursing school at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where she practiced as a labor and delivery nurse at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was also a member of the World War II Cadet Nursing Corps from 1945 to 1948. Later, while working at Johns Hopkins, she met her husband, Herbert, who was in medical school there. They were married on December 3, 1956 and moved to New Orleans where she continued her nursing career at Charity Hospital. They then moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi in 1958 working at Singing River Hospital where her husband was a general surgeon. She was a devout Baptist and attended and volunteered much of her very rare free time to the First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. She was a member of the choir, made costumes for productions, and was a constant presence at the church. She was always very generous with her time in the service of others. She organized blood drives for the Red Cross, taught classes for expecting parents, volunteered with senior citizens while herself being a senior citizen, traveled on medical missions to Central America and performed so many other great works. She had a huge heart and loved her family and friends unconditionally – often visiting sick friends and neighbors, bringing them food and comfort. She touched so many lives and will be dearly missed. She was the beloved mother of Timothy Scott Robinson (Pauline) and Mimi Robinson Primeaux (Chad). She was the cherished grandmother of Alexandra Marie Primeaux and Jack Houston Primeaux. She is also survived by her sisters Peggy Wheatley, Lavinia Slagle, Barbara Collins and brothers Charles Brice and Wade Brice. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Baptist Church of Pascagoula or The American Red Cross. Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Pascagoula from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the service will begin at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dennis Ray Smith officiating.
