Charles P. "Sonny" Naquin Jr.

Charles Paul “Sonny” Naquin, Jr, 90 of Pascagoula, MS set his nets for his final voyage on Monday, November 19, 2018 after a long battle with dementia. He was born on March 6, 1928 in Mobile, AL. He was a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula. Sonny was a Navy veteran of World War II. He had a long career as a TV repairman for Sears Roebuck Company and was able to retire at the young age of 55. He then started his next career which was where his heart belonged as a shrimper aboard his vessel the Midget. Sonny shrimped the waters along the Mississippi Gulf Coast for many years. He was also the owner of Naquin’s trailer park. Sonny enjoyed being outside from sun up to sun down. He was an avid wrestling fan. He loved to cook seafood and was always ready to make a pot of his famous gumbo. His sense of humor and love for humankind could be seen in everything that he did. He never met a stranger or an animal that he didn’t love. He is proceeded in death by his loving wife Gloria “Rayne” Naquin; father, Charles Paul Naquin, Sr, Mother Bessie O’Rourke Naquin and Step Mother Ruth Martin Naquin; sister, Shirley “Tita” Cauley and brother Donald Naquin. He is survived by his sister Claire Grimme of Pascagoula; two sons Chuck Naquin and Rick (Sheila) Naquin all of Pascagoula, four grandchildren, Paul Naquin of Pascagoula, Kelly (Chris) Doebler of Gautier, Tracey (Lance) Harris of Crowley, TX, and Phillip (Jana) Naquin of Pascagoula. "Paw-Paw" leaves behind precious memories for his great grandchildren; Laney, Myles, Brayden and Berkley Naquin; Madison, Lilly and Quinn Doebler and Camille Harris. He will also be truly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family of Mr. Naquin would like to express a loving heartfelt thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Gulfport Memorial and We Care Hospice for all the love and compassionate care given during his final months. Also, a special thanks is given to his daughter-in-law, Sheila who took care of him as if he was her own Father. Visitation will be held Monday November 26, 2018 from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home, 4007 Main Street Moss Point, MS. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home Chapel with Father Tony Arguelles officiating.
