James L. Alexander

James L. Alexander James L. Alexander went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 19, 2013. Mr. Alexander went peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 12, 1925 in Louisville, MS to Curtis and Annie Alexander. Mr. Alexander was married to his loving wife, Nannie Mae “Nancy” Alexander, for 68 years. Mr. Alexander enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his gardens. Every year his garden was bigger and better than the year before, even though he insisted each year that the next one would be smaller. When he wasn’t hunting, fishing or working in his garden, he could often be found doing volunteer maintenance at Riverside Baptist Church. He was a proud shipbuilder at Ingalls Shipbuilding for many years. He worked as a 1st Class Electrician while taking great pride in his work. While employed at Ingalls, he also volunteered as an Auxiliary Policeman with the Moss Point Police Department. After retiring from Ingalls, he joined the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department where he served under the leadership of Sheriffs Fred Diamond, John Ledbetter, Pete Pope and Mike Byrd. Mr. Alexander then permanently retired in 2012. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and was a deacon at Riverside Baptist Church, where he and his wife have been long time members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Annie Alexander, 3 brothers: Louis Alexander, Willard Alexander and Cleo Alexander, Sister: Parry Lee McDonald, and Grandson: Allen Goff. He is survived by his wife, Nannie Mae “Nancy” Alexander of Moss Point, Children: Lynda (Clyde) Pound of Pontotoc, MS, Sandra (Buddy) Holyfield of Friendship, TN, Kathy (Richard) McGovern of Gautier, Cynthia (Greg) Goff of Naples, FL, Mike (Teresa) Alexander of Lucedale, Grandchildren: Kevin (Eva) Pound of Gautier, Tonia (Michael) Huffman of Pontotoc, MS, Lisa (Andy) Blake of Gardendale, AL, Angie (Phil) Holland of Albuquerque, NM, Tobie (Bobby) Nix of Pascagoula, Beth (Wray) Simpkins of Ocean Springs, Joshua Goff of Biloxi, Shawn Goff of Naples, FL, James Alexander of Lucedale, Stephanie Nelson of Pascagoula, Jessica (Jeff) Lunney of Lucedale, Zachary (Crystal) Alexander of Lucedale, Step Grandchildren: Donna (Marvin) Washington of CO, Kathleen LaFleur of Mandeville, LA, 20 Greatgrandchildren and 17 Step Greatgrandchildren, Brother: Jimmy (Callie) Alexander of Louisville, MS, Sisters: Janice (Troy) Crocker of Louisville, MS and Faye (C.L.) Ballard of Moss Point. The Visitation will be on April 21, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Mississippi. Rev. Tracy Martin will be officiating the service. The Funeral Service will be held at Riverside Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS, on April 22, 2013 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens.
