Jessie Prentiss "J.P." Hollingsworth

Mr. Jessie Prentiss “J.P.” Hollingsworth, age 97 of Pascagoula passed away on Thursday, September 04, 2014. Born on August 4, 1917 in Clark County, MS, he was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula. Mr. Hollingsworth served on various committees and was a member of the Administrative Counsel, United Methodist Men’s Club, Gennelle Baber Sunday School class, and Seniors Group, The Joys. He retired from Ingalls (Litton) Shipyard, where he was a supervisor in Production Control in the Electronics and Fire Control Department. Mr. Hollingsworth was a member of the Masonic Lodge #419, Past Master of Lodge #497 in Mendenhall, MS, a 32° Scottish Rite Mason, and member of Jappa Shrine Temple in Biloxi, MS. On August 29, 2014, the Grand Master presented him with the 70 year certificate and pin to the Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Hollingsworth is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Thames Hollingsworth; father, H.J. Hollingsworth; mother, Estella Hollingsworth; sister, Etta McLoud; two brothers, J.O. and Edward Hollingsworth; and son in law, Francis A. Haarala. He is survived by his only daughter, Elizabeth Hollingsworth Haarala; three grandchildren, Misty Lee Haarala, Kristi Haarala Summerlin, and Mitchell (Michelle) Haarala; five great grandchildren, Christopher Lee Summerlin, Keri Elizabeth Summerlin, Benjamin Ellis Haarala, Jackson Tyler Haarala, and Alison Brooks Alvarado; three great-great grandchildren, Galen Christopher Summerlin, Kidd James Summerlin, and Layla L. Summerlin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula with Rev. Jim Fisher, Rev. Earl Greenough, and Elder Sherry Judy officiating. Friends may visit from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. A Masonic graveside service will be held at Serene Memorial Gardens. Friends from his Wednesday morning prayer group, Bill Zender, Dewey Lane, Glen Wood, Jack Boreing, Keith Belcher, Greg Johnston, Bob Blackman, and Frank Lash will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Light, Davita Dialysis, the nurses & staff of Singing River Hospital, and special thanks to Dr. Movi and Dr. Miles for the care they provided.
