John Jefferson Lyons Sr.

John Jefferson Lyons Sr. (Jay Jay) Age 93, the son of Reuben Edgar Lyons and Celestine Bosarge Lyons was born in Orange Grove Mississippi, October 7, 1920, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS. He lived most of his life in Kreole, MS. He Graduated From Moss Point High School as Salutatorian of his class in 1939. He enjoyed gardening and farming. He was a member of Kreole Ave. Baptist Church Mr. Lyons was a veteran of World War II and was honorably discharged from the air force squadron A-9 3502 2D AAF unit. He retired from Brookley Air Force Base and Ingalls Shipbuilding in the Nuclear Submarine Division. He was preceded in death by his parent and wife of 65 years, Virginia Rivers Lyons; brother, Leroy (Hazel) Lyons; sisters, Estelle (Duard) Driver, Jeannie (Ralph) Roberts, Cecilia (Alfred) Hurd, Annie (JC) Bounds; and grandson, John Jefferson Lyons III. Survivors include brother, Edgar Lyons of Gautier, MS; children, John (Sandra) Lyons of Pascagoula, MS Terrell (Barbara) Lyons of Austin, TX, Malva Riley of Big Point, MS, Deborah (Brian) Bringham of Eugene, OR, and Juanita (Curtis) Green of Hurley, MS. Twelve grandchildren, David (Jackie) Lyons, Brian (Courtney) Green of Pascagoula, MS, Aimee Lyons Haskin of Mobile, AL, Brent (Kristy) Lyons of Cape Coral, FL, Elizabeth Lyons-Beal of Sacramento, CA, Alex Lyons of Kreole, MS, Desiree Likes of Sparks, NV, Leanne Philyaw of Gainsville, GA. Kim (Steve) Foster, Jennifer (Todd) Walters, and Wend Hamrick of Hurley MS, and Celeste (Grant) Gaultney, Olympia, WA. Twenty-two great-grandchildren, Mason & Jenna Lyons of Pascagoula, MS, Jason Kowalski of Carlsbad, CA, Jonathan & Brody Lyons of Cape Coral, FL, Ethan Lyons of Gautier, MS Allyson, Jacob & Jenna Likes of Sparks, NV, Skylar & Paige Philyaw of Aribie, LA, Katie (Tyler) Moseley of Hurley, MS, Kelsy, Taylor, Bradley, Tyler, & Dylan Foster of Hurley, MS, Logan & Lauren Walters of Hurley, MS, Dallas & Kara Gaultney of Olympia, WA, Jay & Hallie Hamrick of Hurley, MS. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 26, 2014 starting at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:30 from Holder-Wells Funeral Home, Moss Point, MS, with Reverend Wilbur Hall officiating. Interment will be located at W.R. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Forts Lake community. Pall Bearers will include David Lyons, Mason Lyons, Brent Lyons, Jonathan Lyons, Alex Lyons, Todd Walters, Logan Walters, Curtis Green, Brian Green, & Tyler Moseley.
