John Malcolm "Mac" Heilman

Mr. John Malcolm “Mac” Heilman, 75, was born on October 12, 1938 in Vernon, Indiana to Mr. John Heilman and Mrs. Golda Heilman Robinson. He went home to be with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 28, 2013. Mac was a Southern Baptist. Practicing his faith he was a member and deacon at the Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, MS for many years. Prior to living in Jackson, he was a member and deacon of Arlington Heights Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS. Mac was also actively involved in mission work, Gideons International and Operation Christmas Child. Mac served in the United States Air Force for 20 years in the Far East, Japan, and Italy. He returned from overseas serving at Keesler Air Force Base as squadron commander. He was a realtor for ten years and was employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding engineering department for eight years. Mac is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 47 years, Patricia Faggard Heilman, of Moss Point. He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Jean Cochran Heilman of Jackson, MS; stepson Joe Vance, Jr. and Sara Tinsley-Vance of Dover, FL; son, Michael Andrew Heilman and Laura Heilman, of Jackson, MS; daughter Lynn Heilman Lawson and Shelton Lawson, of Hurley, MS; daughter, Heidi Heilman Shoemaker and Gregory Shoemaker, of Hurley, MS; grandsons, Zachary Dean Lawson and Andrew Malcom Lawson, of Hurley, MS; grandson, Samuel Michael Heilman, of Jackson, MS; granddaughters Hannah Christine Heilman and Elaina Marie Heilman, of Jackson, MS; granddaughters Erin Elizabeth Shoemaker and Anna Katherine Shoemaker, of Hurley, MS; great grandchildren, Addison Marie Lawson and Cameron Dean Lawson of Hurley, MS; step grandchildren Joe Vance III, David Vance, Robby Tinsley and B.J. Tinsley – all of Dover, Florida; brother, David Heilman, of Vernon, IN; and sister, Beth Gossman, of Vernon, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mr. Heilman will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. at Arlington Heights Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend Ben Carlisle officiating. Interment will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point, MS. A memorial service will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, MS at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 3327 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39216 or a Christ-based ministry of one’s choice.
