Karen S. Gilly

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8, N.I.V. Karen Susan Thompson Gilly was born on July 3, 1962 in Key West Fl. to the late Robert L. and Geraldine Alwell Thompson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step-son, Michael A. Gilly; and her first spouse, Tony A. Medjesky. Karen went to heavenly home on December 16, 2012 after a hard and long-fought battle with Diabetes. She is survived by her husband of twenty-three years, Deacon Mike Gilly, and her children, Derek Medjesky and Bryan Gilly (Sydney), and step-children: Jennifer (Lester) Charbonnett, Kelli (Steve) Miller, Josh (Michele) Gilly. Her grandchildren include Courtney, Carly and Mac Charbonnett; Tucker, Grafton and Sawyer Miller; Ethan Gilly Naron, and Julianne Gilly. And two cats: Abby and Toulouse. She was employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding in the Supply Chain Management Dept as a Quality Management System Auditor. Karen is a member of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. She taught C.C.D. and instructed her class to receive their First Communion. She was instrumental in establishing her parish’s involvement with Our Daily Bread. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association (A.B.W.A.), Singing River Charter Chapter. Karen made her Cursillo, Dedeaux #211, and was very involved with the Cursillo Movement of the Biloxi Diocese, working on several teams during her short life. A Memorial Mass will be conducted at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 11:00am. A wake will be held from 9:00am – 10:35 am followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 10:40am. Fr. Tony Arguelles will be the celebrant and Deacon Gayden Harper will assist.
